Space and light in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe

Berchem-Sainte-Agathe now has a renewed public space that comes to life every night under the impulse of the new lighting.

The lighting of this central location in the municipality had to be able to meet the challenge.  Its implementation is part of the redevelopment of the church square to provide more space for pedestrians and shopkeepers.  It responds to the desire to create a friendly village atmosphere, as stated in the municipal “lighting plan” drawn up by Light-To-Light a few years earlier.

The principle is simple and makes it possible to be in harmony with the surrounding lighting furniture.  It uses candlesticks with a sophisticated design, installed at low height, which provide a warm and comfortable light for all users, including residents. The placement of the lamps creates more space and enlarges the space.  At dusk, the lighting provides a new environment for night walks and relaxation around the benches and terraces.

This project is the result of an efficient collaboration between the Espaces-Mobilités office, the lighting design office in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe and Sibelga’s public lighting service, which was organised by the municipal works of Berchem-Sainte-Agathe.
